CHAPTER 7: THE RESEARCH PROJECT HYPOTHESIS THREE
The Research Project hypothesis three asserts providing resolution to the conflict between the Noahic and Abrahamic covenants on one hand and the New Covenant of Grace on the other will be highly beneficial to the entire humanity, especially the people of the Middle East Region as follows:
- The humanity shall achieve the much desired seeming elusive peace and harmony in the universe.
- The soared relationships among the various genders, men, women, boys and girls that emanates from the operation of the Patriarchy System will be cemented
- It will engender rapid spiritual growth that will in turn bring about socio-economic development and transformation of the economies of the various nations of the world; and
- When the peoples of the world would have learnt to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the Son of God, they would automatically cease from their labor and enter into eternal rest, which is alone available in Christ Jesus. By that we mean the peoples of the world would have ceased from labor that comprises the series of ritual sacrifices they embark upon year in and year out in a quest to access the Almighty God.
As a result of our findings, it is quite obvious that just as the Noahic Covenant, which is covenanted to last forever has been subsumed in the Old Covenant of Promise so also the Old Covenant of Promise, as the Great Apostle Paul puts it, has been annulled, abolished and or fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ to whom the Almighty God made the Promise of the New Covenant of Grace. Arising from there, our recommendations are:
The Noahic/Rainbow Everlasting Covenant: Take judicial note, like the Abrahamic Covenant of Promise that the Almighty God intends the Noahic Covenant also known as the Rainbow Covenant to have an everlasting impact on the entire humanity. That the everlasting impact of the covenant is still existing, having been subsumed into the Abrahamic Covenant popularly known as the Old Covenant of Promise. Writing about the Covenant, the Good News Bible simply records as follows, “When mankind had spread over the world, and girls were being born, some of the heavenly beings (sons of the gods) saw that these girls were beautiful, so they took the ones they liked. Then the LORD said, ‘I will not allow people to live forever: they are mortal. From now on they will live no longer than hundred and twenty years.’ In those days, and even later, there were giants on the earth who were descendants of human women and the heavenly beings (sons of the gods). They were the great heroes and famous men of long ago. God blessed Noah and his sons and said, ‘Have many children, so that your descendants will live all over the earth. All the animals, birds will live in fear of you. They are all placed under your power. Now you can eat them, as well as green plants; I give them all to you for food. The one thing you must not eat is meat with blood still in it; I forbid this because the life is in the blood. If anyone takes human life, he will be punished. I will punish with death any animal that takes human life. Man was made like God, so whoever murders a man will himself be killed by his fellow-man. You must have many children, so that your descendants will live all over the earth. God said to Noah and his sons, ‘I am now making my covenant with you and with your descendants, and with all living beings – all birds and all animals – everything that came out of the boat with you. With these words I make my covenant with you: I promise that never again will all living beings be destroyed by a flood; never again will a flood destroy the earth. As a sign of this everlasting covenant, which I am making with you and with all living beings, I am putting my bow in the clouds. It will be the sign of my covenant with the world. Whenever I cover the sky with clouds and the rainbow appears, I will remember my promise to you and to all the animals that a flood will never again destroy all living beings. When the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between me and all living beings on earth. That is the sign of the promise which I am making to all living beings.” (Emphasis ours) Genesis 9: 1-17.
The Old Covenant of Promise, Abram and His Seed: Conversely, like the case of Noah that found favor in the sight of the Almighty God under the dispensation of the Noahic Covenant so also Abraham who later became Abraham found favor with God in the aegis of the Old Covenant of Promise. That the Abrahamic Covenant was made between the Almighty God, Abraham and his Seed, the Seed being the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God or Messiah. That the Abrahamic Covenant has two component parts namely, the Old Covenant of Promise and the New Covenant of Grace. Again, like the Noahic Covenant, although the first part of the Abrahamic Covenant, the Old Covenant of Promise, is still existing but that it has been subsumed into the New Covenant of Grace having been annulled, abolished or fulfilled in the Seed of Abraham, the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom the Almighty God made the New Covenant of Grace. And that the rite of circumcision is an integral part of the Abrahamic Covenant also known as the Old Covenant of Promise. Writing about the Old Covenant of Promise, which the Almighty God entered into with Abram and his Seed, the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible posits, “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, ‘As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I give unto thee and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. And God said unto Abraham, ‘Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
The Sign of Circumcision of the Abrahamic Covenant: Like we already stated, the rite of circumcision is an integral part of the Old Covenant of Promise. That under the tenet of the Abrahamic Covenant, it is a very serious offense punishable with death for anybody who violates the law of circumcision. In that regards, we have, “This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant between me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. And God said unto Abraham, ‘As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, ‘Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? And shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?
The Old Covenant of Promise and Ishmael: Like we stated in the volume 1 Report, the good people of Israel and indeed the entire humanity should learn that all that glitter is not gold. That though Ishmael took part in the circumcision rites with the father, Abraham, yet the Almighty God never intends he should be part of the Abrahamic Covenant agreement or as the heir of his father, Abraham. We discovered that unassailable fact when we read, “And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! Moreover, God said, ‘Sarah thy wife shalt bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard thee. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shalt he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shalt bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.’ When God finished speaking to Abraham, he left him. (Emphasis ours) Genesis 17: 18 – 22.
The New Covenant of Grace and Abraham’s Seed: Like we read the Almighty God ordained that Ishmael had no portion in his father’s inheritance under the Abrahamic Covenant except Isaac, so also Isaac has no portion in the father’s inheritance in the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace except the Seed of Abraham the Lord Jesus Christ. That as Ishmael and Isaac under the dispensation of the Old Covenant of Promise could not co-exist so also in the present dispensation of the New Covenant of Grace, Isaac and the Lord Jesus Christ supposed not and cannot co-exist in the New Testament Bible. In other words, although the Old Covenant of Promise and or Old Testament Bible is a sacred Book that the Almighty God bequeathed to the Jews and of course the Proselyte-Jews but that it is never meant to co-exist with the New Testament Bible in the dispensation of the New Covenant of Grace. Highlighting the issue, the Great Apostle Paul, Bishop of the soul of the Gentiles in what the Good News Bible titles, The Law and the Promise, writes, “My brothers, I am going to use an everyday example: when two people agree on a matter and sign an agreement, no one can break it or add anything to it. Now, God made his promises to Abraham and to his descendant. The scripture does not use the plural ‘descendants,’ meaning many people, but the singular ‘descendant,’ meaning one person only, namely, Christ. What I mean is that God made a covenant with Abraham and promised to keep it. The Law, which was given four hundred and thirty years later, cannot break that covenant and cancel God’s promise. For if God’s gift depends on the Law, then, it no longer depends on his promise. However, it was because of his promise that God gave that gift to Abraham. What, then, was the purpose of the Law? It was added in order to show what wrongdoing is, and was meant to last until the coming of Abraham’s descendant, to whom the promise was made. The Law was handed down by angels, with a man acting as a go-between. But a go-between is not needed when only one person is involved; and God is one.” Galatians 3: 15-20. That contrary to the rite of circumcision and the Old Covenant of Promise having been subsumed into the New Covenant of Grace, the Great Apostle Paul writes, “Freedom is what we have – Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again. Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised (according to the Abrahamic covenant) it means that Christ is of no use to you at all. Once more I warn any man who allows himself to be circumcised that he is obliged to obey the whole Law (Law of Moses and its attendant Ordinances). Those of you who try to be put right with God by obeying the Law cut yourselves off from Christ. You are outside God’s grace. As for us, our hope is that God will put us right with him; and this is what we wait for by the power of God’s Spirit working through our faith. For when we are in union with Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor the lack of it makes any difference at all; what matters is faith that works through love. You were doing so well! Who made you stop obeying the truth? How did he persuade you? It was not done by God who calls you. It takes only yeast to make the whole batch of dough rise, as they say. But I still feel confident about you. Our life in union with the Lord makes me confident that you will not take a different view and that the man who is upsetting you, whoever he is (the “So-called” Special Apostle James and his cohorts: see Gal.2: 11 – 14), will be punished by God. But as for me, my brothers, if I continue to preach that circumcision is necessary, why am I still being persecuted? If that were true, then my preaching about the cross of Christ would cause no trouble. I wish that the people who are upsetting you would go all the way; let them go on and castrate themselves! As for you, my brothers, you were called to be free. But do not let this freedom become an excuse for letting your physical desires control you. Instead, let love make you serve one another. For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ But if you act like wild animals, hurting and harming each other, then watch out, or you will completely destroy one another.” Galatians 5: 1 – 15.
Kindly note by talking about “Love your neighbor as you love yourself,” the Apostle is not inferring that the Love Command in the Law of Moses is only the sub-existing out of the Ten Commandments; that it is completely the opposite. Like we elsewhere stated, we relied on the superior commandment the Lord Jesus Christ bequeaths to the believers under the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace, when he simply declares, among others,
‘You have heard it was said, “Love your friends, and hate your enemies.” But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the sons of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! You must be perfect – just as your Father in heaven is perfect!” Matthew 5: 43 – 48. Similarly, the Jesus Christ the Son of God avows, “So then, anyone who hears these words of mine (the Beatitude or Sermon on the Mount) and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers overflowed, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was! When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowd was amazed at the way he taught. He wasn’t like the teachers of the Law, instead, he taught with authority.” Matthew 7: 24 – 29.
In conclusion, the Apostle Paul in what the Good News Bible titles, The Purpose of the Law, writes, “Does this mean that the Law is against God’s promise? No, not at all! For if mankind had received a law that could bring life, then, everyone could be put right with God by obeying it. But the scripture says that the whole world is under the power of sin; and so the gift which is promised on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ is given to those who believe. But before the time for faith came, the Law kept us all (the Judaism-Practitioners and the Proselyte-Jews, excluding the Gentiles who were ‘Outside the Commonwealth of Israel who were governed by the Law of Conscience) as prisoners until this coming faith should be revealed. And so the Law was in charge of us until Christ came, in order that we might then be put right with God through faith. Now that the time for the faith is here, the Law is no longer in charge of us. It is through faith that all of you are God’s sons in union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself. So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free men, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then, you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.” (Emphasis ours) Galatians 3: 21-29.
HOW TO REVOLUTIONIZE THE CHRISTENDOM
Like we write elsewhere, the way forward Cross of Calvary Foundation – CCFN Inc strongly recommends is embedded in the Good News Bible enshrined in the Introduction to Paul’s Letter to the Galatians that simply reads, “As the good news (tenet of the New Covenant of Grace as against the Old Covenant of Promise) about Jesus began to be preached and welcomed among people who were not Jews, the question arose as to whether a person must obey the Law of Moses (as demanded by James) in order to be a true Christian. Paul had argued that this was not necessary – that in fact, the only sound basis for life in Christ was faith, by which all are put right with God. But among the churches of Galatia, a Roman province in Asia Minor, there had come people (sponsored by the Apostle James) who opposed Paul and claimed that one must also observe the Law of Moses in order to be right with God. Paul’s Letter to the Galatians was written in order to bring back to true faith (as against adulterated version of the New Covenant of Grace being preached in Jerusalem) and practice those people who were being misled by this false teaching. …” Again, the Great man of God, the Apostle Paul, substantiates his claim with what the Good News Bible christens, Preserve Your Freedom, as follows: “Freedom is what we have – Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves (to the Abrahamic Old Covenant of Promise and the Law of Moses) again. Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, it means that Christ is of no use to you at all! Once more I warn any man who allows himself to be circumcised that he is obliged to obey the whole Law. Those of you who try to be put right with God by obeying the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ. You are outside God’s grace (i.e., New Covenant of Grace.) Galatians 5: 1-4.
That is the greatest dilemma confronting both the Judaic Practitioners and Judaic-Christians the world over. For those practicing Judaism Religion, please note that the esteemed Sephardi Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef as reported by The Times of Israel told the whole world that the “moral laws” are “theoretical” and to that extend have no binding force on the adherers. But you will recall, the Apostle James earlier asserts even if one does not commit adultery that such a one has become a law-breaker if he or she commits murder. That is because if one keeps ninety-nine and half percent and breaks a half percent of the Law, such a one has become a law-breaker!
Also, for the Judaic-Christians in the Christendom, i.e., those mixing Judaism practices with Christianity, the Great Apostle Paul says that if they allow themselves to be circumcised, it means Christ is of no use to them at all. That those who try to be saved by obeying the Law have cut themselves off the Christ and they are outside God’s grace, the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace. Therefore, what is the fate of such a one who is cut off from the Christ and who is outside the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace enunciated by the Messiah, Jesus the Christ? Well, may the Almighty God have mercy on them all; however, we strongly advocate that repentance should begin now: for it is not yet too late!
In conclusion, Cross of Calvary Foundation – CCFN Inc wishes to state no matter the pedigree of a believer in the Christendom that if our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah and or Son of God were to suddenly appear to meet the same scenario that made him to weep and heap woe upon woes on the Scribes and Pharisees the teachers of the Law who tenaciously hold tight to the tenet of the Abrahamic Covenant also known as the Old Covenant of Promise and the Law of Moses and its attendant Ordinances, which he had already fulfilled that he would weep and condemn them, too! So, let us all, we mean, the entire humanity be warned because a word is enough for the wise. Thank you and God bless.
