Beloved, we are most especially addressing the Spiritual Leaderships the world over in this title christened, Jesus Christ and the Law of Tithe. In our very humble estimation, it is not wrong to be wrong but it is absolutely wrong for one to know one is wrong and for one to remain in the wrong.
Before we delve into the issue of the beast with ten horns and seven heads, we sincerely wish to state with utmost respect and sincerity to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we are not unaware many Church Leaders in the contemporary Christendom worldwide know the undiluted message of the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace. However, like we stated elsewhere, because of the spirit of materialism that creeps into the Church and or their fears they might lose grip of the very lucrative tithe and first-fruits offering collections, which they currently enjoy that they found it extremely difficult to embrace the truth about the Good News gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The root cause of the materialism that bestrides the entire Christendom is the twisted version of the law of tithe embedded in the Book of Deuteronomy enshrined in the Old Testament Bible that simply stipulates,
“Set aside a tithe – a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. Then go to one place where the LORD your God has chosen to be worshipped; and there in his presence eat the tithes of your corn, wine, and olive-oil, and the first-born of your cattle and sheep. Do this so that you may learn to honor the LORD your God always. If the place of worship is too far from your home for you to carry there the tithe of your produce that the LORD has blessed you with, then do this: sell your produce and take the money with you to the one place of worship. Spend it on whatever you want – beef, lamb, wine, beer – and there, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families are to eat and enjoy yourselves.
Do not neglect the Levites (equivalent of the contemporary Church Leaderships) who live in your towns: they have no property of their own (really? What of the chains of property owned by Church Leaderships today?) At the end of every third year (as against the ritual of daily collection of tithes) bring the tithe of all your crops and store it in your towns. This food is for the Levites, since they own no property, and for the foreigners, orphans, and widows who live in your towns. They are to come and get all they need. Do this, and the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do.” Deut. 14: 22 – 29.
Now, if our highly esteemed Spiritual Leaderships maintain the Abrahamic Old Covenant of Promise and the Law of Moses have not yet been annulled, abolished and or fulfilled in Christ Jesus and that we are still expecting the Messiah like the Jewish counterpart, therefore, they should endeavor to strictly adhere to the spirit and letter of the above highlighted law embedded in the Old Testament Bible. It is mandatory for them to adhere to the law because even the greatest proponent of Judaic-Christianity, the Apostle James declares, “… Whoever breaks one commandment is guilty of breaking them all. For the same one who said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘Do not commit murder.’ Even if you do not commit adultery, you have become a law-breaker if you commit murder. Speak and act as people who will be judge by the law that sets us free. For God will not show mercy when he judges the person who has not been merciful; but mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2: 8-13.
As if to counter the Apostle James’ averment, Apostle Paul the Great in what the Good News Bible titles, Preserve Your Freedom, vibrates, “Freedom is what we have – Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again (slaves to the Abrahamic Old Covenant of Promise, the Law of Moses and its attendant Ordinances). Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, it means that Christ is of no use to you at all. Once more I warn any man who allows himself to be circumcised that he is obliged to obey the whole Law.
Those of you who try to be put right with God by obeying the Law have cut yourselves off from Christ. You are outside God grace.
As for us (born-again and not Judaic-Christians) our hope is that God will put us right with him; and this is what we wait for by the power of God’s Spirit working through our faith. For when we are in union with Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor lack of it makes any difference at all; what matters is faith that works through love.” Galatians 5: 1-6.
The very pertinent question that will naturally agitate one’s mind is if in a bid for one to obey the Abrahamic Old Covenant of Promise and the Law of Moses and or the highly adulterated Apostle James’ pattern of the New Covenant of Grace, which is referred to by his elder brother, the Lord Jesus Christ, as “The Awful Horror” prophet Daniel spoke (Matthew 24:15-28), one cuts off oneself from the Christ and the tenet of the New Covenant of Grace, where does that lead one? Well, all we can simply say is God forbids that one should be cut off from the Christ and be outside the Grace of the Almighty God! To put paid to the argument that might arise as to who is right or wrong between the Apostles James and Paul, the Jewish High Priest who presides over the mock trial of the Son of God and his First and Second Reports to the Sanhedrin on the mock trial, execution and resurrection of Jesus Christ come in handy.
